He was one of Europe’s best strikers during his time.
Now Torbjörn Nilsson reveals who his favorite player is.
– I think he is the world’s best of all time, he says to Expressen.
There is only one person who has been nicknamed “God” in Gothenburg. His name is Torbjörn Nilsson and was a truly unique footballer during his active career.
Nilsson’s career
He is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s best strikers of all time and with his incredible 329 goals in 444 matches an eternal icon in IFK Gothenburg. Nilsson won double SM gold and double Swedish Cup titles with “Blåvitt”, but above all he helped write Swedish sports history by winning the entire Uefa Cup in 1982.

Torbjörn Nilsson also won the shooting league in the same tournament and was awarded the Guldbollen the same year, as Sweden’s best soccer player. For a few years in the 80s, Gud was indeed one of Europe’s very best strikers.
“God’s” favorite
After his playing career, he switched to coaching and football is still a big part of his everyday life.
– I watch IFK Göteborg’s home games and then I follow Tottenham, they are my favorite teams in addition to my parent club Jonsered, admits the 69-year-old in an interview with Expressen.

When Nilsson himself gets the opportunity to name his favorite players in football, the answer is given.
– Ove Kindvall in Sweden. But I think Johan Cruyff is the world’s best player of all time. His playing style was so beautiful, he says in the interview.

Torbjörn Nilsson also appreciates hockey and there is another favorite team that does not come from Gothenburg at all. The heart beats extra for the Stockholm team Djurgården.
– It’s been like that since I was a little boy. I loved Sven Tumba, I cried when he scored, he tells the evening newspaper.
