(Finance) – “We are pursuing a prudent approach to public financespaying attention to debt sustainability and structural problems with a constant eye on our productive fabric and economic growth”. This was said by the Minister of EconomyGiancarlo Giorgetti, in Piazza Affari for the Investopia summit. “The numbers are proving us right but we want to improve” hadded the owner of the Mef.
“In Italy we note the appreciation of investors. And this thanks to the ability of Italian companies to navigate in a context that has changed also in light of the tightening of geopolitical conditions”, Giorgetti reiterated, underlining that “the Government’s policies also contributed to this”. “The geopolitical context, with the exacerbation of tensions, has brought greater risks at a global level”, but “in 2024 both Italy and the United Arab Emirates will maintain their respective growth rates”, the Minister said again.
“I have a responsibility and I defend Italy’s interests. Clear? As Minister of Finance”, he said, replying to those who asked him about the “doubts” about the superbonus raised by Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani.
“I have some doubts about the retroactivity of Minister Giorgetti’s latest proposal”, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, had in fact said, in reference to the mechanism for spreading credits over 10 years for the amounts paid in 2024 (also for contracts started before the current year) announced by the Minister of Economy in reference to the Superbuilding Bonus. Tajani, speaking at the Family Business Forum (available in streaming) added that “as Forza Italia we want to listen to businesses and banks to understand if there is any damage and if Parliament needs to intervene with proposals, without prejudice to the intervention to curb the bonus, an indispensable intervention. Maybe 10 years is too long”
