Skull and Bones is now available for half the original price, just three months after its release. Ubisoft’s self-proclaimed “AAAA” game fell short of expectations.
What game is it about? Skull and Bones is a game from Ubisoft. In it you are a pirate with your own ship in an open world. You have your own crew on board, complete tasks, expand your ship and find treasure.
The development story of the game was quite lengthy. Skull and Bones was in the works at Ubisoft for a full ten years. The expectations of the players were correspondingly high, some of whom asked at the release: What have they been doing all this time?
Because after Ubisoft justified the hefty price of 79.99 euros for the console version in advance by saying that Skull and Bones would be a “AAAA” title, disillusionment set in at the time of release.
The game received mixed reviews and wasn’t well received by players either. On Metacritic, Skull and Bones has a user rating of 3.4 (out of 10). In the end, interest was not as great as expected and the number of players was disappointing. Shortly after release, only around 850,000 players were in-game, including demo players.
If the game was too expensive when it was released but still wants to take a look, now could be the right time. The price was temporarily reduced drastically.
The game currently costs half as much
How much does Skull and Bones currently cost? The game is currently heavily discounted. This could have something to do with the low number of players. On the one hand, Skull and Bones couldn’t convince everyone with its gaming qualities, but on the other hand, the high price perhaps stopped some people from buying it.
You can currently buy the game cheaper on the following platforms (standard edition):
The only way to get even cheaper is with Ubisoft+, the paid subscription model that costs 17.99 euros per month.
Is the offer valid permanently? No, if you want to buy the discounted version, you don’t have to take forever. According to the store, the offer for the PS5 version ends on May 16, 2024. The PC version in the Ubisoft store can be purchased for half the price until May 21, 2024.
Maybe for some players it’s the perfect opportunity to give Skull and Bones another chance. Ubisoft created the game as a service game and provides seasons that are intended to keep you interested for a long time.
