Do you think you have impeccable hygiene in your kitchen? It is very likely that you are missing out on an item that is used every day. And which becomes a real breeding ground for microbes over time.
Hygiene in a kitchen is important. Between food, its storage, its preparation and the daily passage of the whole family, it is essential to keep a clean place to avoid bacteria. In fact, many of us properly clean our tea towels, the work surface, the sink, the refrigerator… While forgetting a very common place.
The cutlery drawer, the dirtiest place in your kitchen
This element is the cutlery drawer that you open and close several times a day without really thinking about it. And if you think about storing actually clean cutlery there, the sources of contamination are various:
- Not only are your cutlery not always immaculate, even when put in the dishwasher;
- But your hands don’t come out of one either washing each time a drawer is opened;
- The drawer is also often full of crumbs or dust.
Result: after just a few days, this drawer not only contains cutlery… but also dozens of bacteria which have taken up residence in this poorly cleaned place.
A drawer to clean twice a month
How to clean up this hidden place? The method is simple, however, and should easily integrate into your household routine.
- Start by emptying the drawer and its compartments completely;
- Vacuum to remove any residue and dust;
- Clean each compartment using a suitable spray, or a mixture of white vinegar, hot water and baking soda;
- Dry and replace the (clean) cutlery in its place.
A habit to repeat approximately twice a month.
