After two films, the Wonder Woman franchise is over. One of the main actors from the last two films, Chris Pine, reacted with incomprehension to the studio’s decision.
What about Wonder Woman 3? In 2017, Wonder Woman’s solo film was released with Gal Gadot in the title role, who almost quit acting before this success. Three years later it was time for a sequel. Wonder Woman 1984 placed the superheroine in the decade in question.
Both films were directed by the American director Patty Jenkins, who was also responsible for Monsters, among other films. She will no longer film a third part of Wonder Woman. The film was canceled by DC and Warner and plans to do so will no longer be pursued.
Chris Pine, who starred in both films, reacted to the cancellation and said he was affected by it.

“Wonder Woman is an incredible character”
What does Chris Pine say? The actor, who some may also know as Kirk from JJ Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, starred as Steve Trevor in the films. Here’s what he says about the decision to cancel Wonder Woman 3:
I was shocked that they said no to a billion dollar franchise and decided to go somewhere else. I don’t know what the reason for this decision was, it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character and Patty Jenkins is a very thoughtful director.

One reason for the cancellation could be that James Gunn is now in charge at DC and is planning a new cinematic universe. Everything that belongs to the now ended Extended Universe should therefore not be taken up any further. Director Zack Snyder has now finished with the DC films and would only return for Batman.

Would Chris Pine have been in Wonder Woman 3? Although the actor is sad that there won’t be a third part, he also makes it clear that he wouldn’t have been a part of it anyway.
His character would be dead and it would be “ridiculous” to bring her back. Nevertheless, he would have liked to see the film. The series has grown on him, even if he was initially skeptical.
Only when director Patty Jenkins explained to him that the film would be based on a classic like Casablanca and would be anything but an ordinary superhero film did Pine accept the role.
