Trump is accused of quietly paying Daniels during the 2016 election and falsifying related accounting records. According to the prosecutor, Trump’s assistant at the time Michael Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 not to reveal that she and Trump had sex in 2006.
According to the charges, Trump tried to hide the traces of the payment in his company’s accounting.

As the evening progressed, Trump and Daniels ended up having sex, according to Daniels. Daniels said he was shocked and paralyzed by the surprising turn of events and found it traumatic, writes The New York Times.
Daniels, in real name by Stephanie Clifford, the testimony was not announced until Tuesday morning local time. Trump wrote on his own social media channel before the hearing that calling Daniels on short notice did not give his lawyers time to prepare. Trump later removed his post.
In the lawsuit, 34 charges have been brought against Trump for falsifying company records. It is the first time in history that a former US president has faced criminal charges in court.
Trump also has several other lawsuits going on. The US presidential election is half a year away.
