The bill is very salty for the multinational of Jeff Bezos. The Italian authority, which guarantees the proper functioning of competition in the country, imposed a fine of 1.13 billion euros on Amazon for “abuse of a dominant position”.

Discrimination

Clearly, the online distribution giant discriminated against sellers who had not used its logistics service; thus undermining competing operators in electronic commerce.

In a statement, Amazon expressed its deep disagreement with the Italian antitrust and announced that the group will bring an appeal against ” this unjustified sanction “. The statement said that more than 50% of annual sales are generated by small and medium-sized businesses whose success is at the center of Amazon’s business model.

For its part, the European Commission welcomes the decision of the Italian competition officer.
