Until June 9, the Correspondents’ Tower is devoted to the European vote. With two stopovers in a European capital, to understand the themes which are essential in the member countries, and the third outside the Union, to see how this campaign is observed, followed or not. Stopover in Amsterdam, Lisbon and London.
– The Dutch will be the first to vote for these European elections since they are called to the polls on Thursday June 6. They will also be the only country to vote this early since in 2019 the British still voted on Thursday. From traditional European campaign themes to The Netherlands are indeed present but the shock wave of the November legislative elections hangs over this election, in particular the score of Geert Wilders on the far right. The European elections will be more national than ever.
– THE Portugal is both very Europeanist and abstentionist. The campaign has not really started while the far right is on the lookout.
– At United Kingdom, we will obviously not vote on June 9 since the country left the European Union four years ago. But the government will still carefully observe the results of these European elections.
