Beetles are currently the biggest problem in Helldivers 2. The TKS has failed and now the players must avert a dire crisis. Although the situation sounds catastrophic at the moment, fans suspect even worse conditions could be coming soon.
What happens in Helldivers 2? Over-Earth has passed on a new general order to its Helldivers. The TKS, also known as the terminid control system, has failed and caused a hyper-reproductive adaptation in the beetles.
In short: The beetles have produced many offspring and are now overrunning the “impenetrable” boundaries that Over-Earth had created. All fighters are now required to deactivate the TKS systems and destroy the eggs of these beasts.
However, a mission in the operation leaves players feeling uneasy. Because if you look at the changes on the TKS devices, it becomes clear that no small beetles were responsible for them.
Avoid these things, otherwise you will quickly become unpopular in Helldivers 2:
Players fear a major threat
What was discovered in the new missions? With the new general order there is also a new mission that you can tackle: deactivate the Terminid control system. In this short mission you have to deactivate three buttons and destroy large eggs – it doesn’t actually sound that dramatic, but a lot of things seem inconsistent.
Players have looked at the infestation of the TKS devices and suspect on Reddit that something big is brewing.
The systems are contaminated with the beetles’ organic materials and the size of their eggs has also suddenly increased. Reddit user Misterputts concludes that boss fights could soon follow and with 4,665 upvotes (as of May 2nd at 12:43 p.m.) he is also receiving support for his fears.
Other users see connections in the theory with the remains of the Teminids. In the predecessor of Helldivers, players could fight against “Hive Lords”. These are giant Terminid worms that could be destroyed in a boss fight.
They didn’t exist in Helldivers 2, but their existence is confirmed by remains. Reddit user Jumpy_Bottle5224 says: “More Hive Lord skeletons have been appearing on insect planets lately. They are usually seen near the small nests. But if you visit Estanu, you will see HUGE skeletons that make these other Hive Lords look like caterpillars.”
Could Hive Lords appear soon? It would be possible. So far, players still have 3 days to free two overrun planets from the claws of insects. What follows after that is unknown. During the insect expansion, one of the four TKS planets was completely conquered.
So it could be that after the general order a new task is to retake Meridia, the lost planet. Perhaps there is a pack of Hive Lords waiting to devour Helldiver. However, this is all just speculation.
Are you excited about the Hive Lords and if so, how do you imagine the fight against these giant worms? Let us know in the comments!
