Bunnik will reflect on it on May 4 monument in Fort Rijnauwen. That location evokes memories of the resistance members from the Netherlands and Belgium who were executed there. Exactly on the spot where the memorial wall now stands, eleven members of the Erkens resistance group were shot dead on October 9, 1943. Between 250 and 500 people are said to have been executed at the fort throughout the war, most of whom remain unidentified.
