Who is the man found dead at E4 Police are

It was on May 1 that private individuals alerted the police after they found a dead man near the Vista hill rest area on the E4 outside Jönköping.

The alarm came just before 18 and the police moved out with a large force, and cordoned off the rest area and a forest grove nearby.

Later in the evening, prosecutors opened a preliminary investigation into murder.

The dead man is middle-aged, but had no identification documents on him when he was found. As of Friday, the dead person had still not been identified.

– It is something we are working on. We look at missing persons and persons who are wanted for other reasons. People who are simply wanted, say Mikael Leideforsgroup manager at Serious Crime in Jönköping to News24 and continues:

– We are looking at trying to see if we can get a DNA match on this person, if it appears in some register or similar.

The technical survey at the rest area at E4 is complete, and the work there is now finished.

– We do not yet know if it is a crime scene or just a find. It is not clear, so we will have to wait and see, says Mikael Leidefors.

The police do not know how long the body was at the scene.

– We cannot say exactly how long the body has been in this place. It’s a little hard to say. It depends on the weather what happens to a body after death, says Leidefors and continues:

– We don’t have a fixed time, but we say somewhere between last weekend and May 1 when the body was found. Probably no further back than that.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide and are now appealing for tips from the public.

– We are interested in observations around this resting place. All sightings of people or vehicles that stand out in any way during this time period, says Mikael Leidefors.
