V Rising will be released on Steam and PS5 on May 8, 2024. The survival game has been in early access since 2022 and has been able to build a large, loyal fan base since then. The reason: It has developed splendidly over the years.

What kind of game is this?

The game offers an RPG component in addition to typical features such as base building and exploration. You can choose your own play style using skills and weapons and even fulfill roles such as tank or healer in co-op.

You can play solo or in co-op with friends on your own servers, or with several players on official servers. However, there is also PvP with full loot on corresponding servers – so only intended for the tough ones among you.

This is what V Rising shows now: On May 2, 2024, V Rising released a new gameplay trailer for the game’s launch. Some of the content of the game can be seen there. Since the release in Early Access, a number of new features have been added, more are coming with 1.0, such as:

  • new bosses, weapons and abilities
  • more areas of the map, which is now complete
  • This is accompanied by new enemy types and themes, such as completely crazy Frankenstein cyborgs
  • a collaboration with Castlevania and the vampire boss Dracula himself in the game

    “I wish all early access games were this flawless”

    At release, V Rising already had over 150,000 players (via steamcharts). Of course there are fewer of them now, but almost 6,000 people still log in regularly and play their vampires.

    V Rising is being received “very positively” on Steam, with 88 percent across all reviews (via Steam). One of the biggest advantages is the building system: you can build a real vampire castle in a cool Gothic style, now even over several floors.

    As befits vampires, you also keep one or two villagers as blood banks or transform them directly into vampire subjects. You can send these… er… certainly voluntary “helpers” on missions or simply let them fight.

    Many reviews also praise the scope. It says something like this:

    The game felt finished when it was first playable in Early Access. Absolutely shameful for the “AAAA” studios. It’s only gotten better since then.

    The only disadvantages are that you quickly stagnate on your own and you can’t adjust the server settings properly. In addition, you cannot take your character with you if you switch to another server or want to play with friends.

    Nevertheless, the positive reviews of V Rising far outweigh the negatives. There is simply no other survival game with such mechanics and, above all, the great setting – that was our impression when playing. One of the reasons why it is one of the best survival games for PC, PS5 and Xbox on MeinMMO.
