For a time, however, the case took an unexpected turn. The police could then, with the help of IT forensics, establish that the recording was in all probability AI-generated. A former physical education teacher could also be arrested on suspicion of having created it.
A verdict in the case could have great significance in a situation where American authorities fear a wave of AI-related crime, explains SVT’s USA correspondent Fouad Youcefi.
– This has caused a lot of concern. In March, the company OpenAI withdrew the public’s ability to use the company’s text-to-speech software, and Congress is considering restrictions on the companies, he says.
