Turkiye will support that name for NATO Secretary General

Türkiye informed other members of the organization that it will support the candidacy of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the new NATO Secretary General.

According to information received from Turkish officials, Türkiye announced that it will support Rutte for the new NATO Secretary General post.

After Rutte met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul last week to request support for the NATO General Secretariat, Turkey conveyed to NATO members that it would support Rutte today.

President Erdoğan had a one-on-one meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Rutte, who visited Turkey on April 26, at the Vahdettin Mansion.

Mark Rutte said at the joint press conference that NATO’s southern wing needs Turkey and Turkey’s leadership.

Dutch Prime Minister Rutte said, “Turkey is playing a decisive role. While doing this, it is making efforts to resolve the situation in Gaza. At the same time, it is making efforts regarding this terrible war in Ukraine. In that respect, you play an important role.” He used the expression. (AA)This content was published by Ufuk Dağ
