A gas container in a biogas-powered minibus exploded in Nybro on Sunday afternoon. The bus was parked at a business area and no people were injured in connection with the incident, Barometern reports.
The rescue service assesses that there is a certain risk of further explosions in nearby tanks, and the armed forces have been called to the scene to assist in the work of securing them.
Late on Sunday evening, Region Kalmar announces that Länstrafiken is taking 50 similar vehicles out of service as a safety measure. In May last year, a gas bus of the same make exploded in an industrial area in Västervik.
“It is of course very unfortunate that an incident of this type has occurred again and we will now go to the bottom to find the cause. We apologize already now for the possible delays and canceled trips that may occur on Monday, writes traffic director Mattias Ask in a press release.
