Sometimes films and everyone involved just have bad luck. That’s what happened with Wonder Woman 1984. The predecessor was a surprisingly big hit and part 2 could have continued if the circumstances had been different. But it probably shouldn’t be like that. You can watch the film on TV on Sunday.

The sad reason why Wonder Woman 1984 flopped so much
Wonder Woman was a huge success and the subsequent films could have put the DC film universe back on track. But Wonder Woman 1984 was made on a huge budget of $200 million, but then it was supposed to in the middle of the peak phase of the coronavirus pandemic appear.
After several postponements due to closed cinemas, the film was released at the end of 2020 simultaneously in US cinemas and on the streaming service
HBO Max released. That probably broke the neck of box office receipts.
In Germany Wonder Woman 1984 came to Sky Cinema and Sky Ticket (now WOW) in February 2021, but only in cinemas in the summer. According to Box Office Mojo, it only grossed a measly $71,659. In total there are 169 million worldwide, but of course that’s not enough to make a profit.
