This morning the news reached the school in Södertälje – two students have been found dead.

In a letter, the principal now expresses his sadness.

– It came so awfully close, says a mother to a student at the school.

Yesterday evening, two children, a boy and a girl of school age, were found dead in Södertälje. Two family members were arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of murder.

And this morning, the children’s school was reached by the tragic news.

“It is with great sadness that I write this letter to you.” This is how the school’s principal begins an email to the students’ parents, which Aftonbladet has seen.

The school has now established a crisis management team, but will follow the school’s normal schedule and routines as best as possible – in the hope of creating stability for the students, she explains.

The children receive support

The principal writes that they have support functions in place for the children and employees. The school has also called in a student health team to provide additional support.

“For me, it is especially important that we now have many adults around the children,” she writes.

Son at the same school

A mother of a student that Aftonbladet spoke to describes a subdued mood when she went to school this morning.

She had read about the suspected murder early this morning, but didn’t realize at first that the dead children and her son attended the same school.

– I reacted this morning to the fact that so many of the staff were dressed in black. The first thought you had was “hope it’s not one of the children’s friends”, she says.

When she received the letter from the principal, she reacted strongly.

– It came so awfully close. Then you think “poor dead children and their friends”. It’s always terrible to lose someone, but that way.

In conclusion, the rector writes in his email that a memorial service will be held on Thursday and it will be open to everyone.

She also emphasizes that they have a close collaboration with Södertälje municipality.

“Together we will process what happened and be there for each other. I will keep you updated on how we are doing at school,” she writes.
