Russia announced that it would take the necessary measures to guarantee its security if NATO nuclear weapons were placed in Poland.
Poland would be ready to bring nuclear weapons to Polish soil, the country’s president Andrzej Duda says in an interview with the Polish newspaper Fakt, published today.
Duda says that if NATO wanted to deploy nuclear weapons in Poland to strengthen the eastern side of the defense alliance, Poland would be ready for it.
– I have spoken about this several times. I admit that when I have been asked about it, I have told that we are ready for this, Duda said.
Duda spoke to Polish media after visiting the United States. He attended UN meetings in New York and discussed the war in Ukraine with the former president Donald Trump with.
According to Duda, discussions about nuclear cooperation between Poland and the United States have been ongoing for some time. In March, Duda visited Washington, where he met the president Joe Biden.

– The armed forces, of course, will analyze the situation and in any case take all necessary countermeasures to ensure our safety, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said more than a year ago that he would place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Leader of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka confirmed last spring that Russia had started transferring nuclear weapons to Belarus.
