By receiving the country’s highest military leaders, Iranian number one welcomed the attack on Israel, carried out with more than 300 drones and missiles, in retaliation for the destruction of the consulate Iranian in Damascus. This attack left sixteen people dead, including two commanders of the Revolutionary Guards:
“ The question raised by the opposing party on the number of missiles launched or the missiles which reached their target is secondary. What is paramount is the appearance of the power, the will of the people and the Iranian armed forces on an important international stage. This is what hurts them, those who received our blows. Thanks be to God, the military forces appeared effectively “, declared Ali Khamenei.
84% of missiles destroyed according to the Israeli press
The Israelis initially claimed that 99% of missiles had been intercepted. But then the Israeli press spoke of 84% of missiles being shot down. Iran has denied reports of an attack in Isfahan overnight from Thursday to Friday.
The April 13 attack was Iran’s first direct action against the Jewish state. Iranian leaders then asserted that the country’s military doctrine had changed and that Iran would now respond to any attack against its soil or its interests in the region, particularly in Syria.
