Canada has set a new world record for women’s hockey when Montreal hosts Toronto in the newly formed professional women’s PWHL league, the league said on its website.

21,105 people watched the sold-out match at the Bell Center in Montreal.

The previous attendance record was also for a PWHL match, when the same duo squared off in Toronto in front of 19,285 two months ago.

of the PWHL by the world record before the February record was from the 2013 World Championships. At that time, 18,013 spectators had arrived to watch the first group match between Finland and Canada in Ottawa, Canada. Canada then defeated Finland 8–0.

Saturday’s meeting between Montreal and Toronto ended with Toronto winning 3-2.

– Today we celebrate the largest gathering of PWHL fans in our league’s short history in a city that has seen so many hockey milestones, PWHL Director of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford said on the league’s website.

The inaugural season of the PWHL began on New Year’s Day, and the league broke attendance records for women’s professional matches in the first games.

A Finnish player in the round of the night Susanna Tapani was left without power points when Boston, which he represented, beat New York 2–1. New York is last in the six-team series, and Tapani’s Boston is last to last. Boston still has three games left in the regular season. It still has a chance to make it to the playoffs of the top four teams. Boston is two points behind Ottawa, who played one game less.
