The public must be involved in serious violent crimes in Stockholm – via the 112 app

In a pilot project that started this week between SOS Alarm and the police, the public, who downloaded the app, can receive push notifications from the police in case of explosions.

In the Stockholm police region, the app can also inform about other violent crimes – but can also be used to share crime prevention information or provide safety-creating information after an explosion or a shooting,

– We can send out pictures to the public early on of suspected perpetrators caught via surveillance cameras at crime scenes, he says.

If the test in Stockholm works well, the functions can also be used in other parts of Sweden.

Reduce the load on the emergency number 112

Via the phone’s GPS, the app can locate who should receive push notifications depending on the distance to the crime scene. According to the police, there are about 1.2 million people who have the app downloaded and can be accessed by the information.

The police also hope that the app will be able to reduce the load on the emergency number 112.
