The spring anime season started a few weeks ago. The streaming service Crunchyroll has once again added numerous series to its program. Among them is an inconspicuous anime that MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen initially overlooked. But after the first three episodes, she’s hooked.
Which anime was overlooked? We’re talking about Train to the End of the World. The anime has an average rating of 4.5/5 stars on Crunchyroll from 1,400 votes. On MyAnimeList the anime gets 7.36 out of 10 possible points and is therefore on the same level as Sword Art Online (7.21) and Goblin Slayer (7.42).
Although the anime initially looks sweet with its cute group of girls, there is a mysterious adventure behind it.
The anime started on April 1, 2024. Only three episodes are currently available, the rest will be uploaded weekly. The associated manga isn’t that old either – it’s only been available since March 25, 2024.

What is Train to the End of the World about? The launch of the 7G network is imminent. The world is waiting in anticipation to finally be able to communicate telepathically through the internet. But during the launch, the world falls into catastrophe and civilization ends up as isolated settlements.
The 7G accident has led to another anomaly: strange things happen in every village. For example, the residents of Agano turn into animals once they reach the age of 21.
The young girl Shizuru Chikura learns that her missing friend Yoka Nakatomi is still alive. Together with her classmates, she sets off by train to track down Yoka.
What makes the anime so special? The first episode, with its colorful animations, shows what a crazy anime Train to the End of the World is. The following episodes aren’t quite as crazy, but the different anomalies and natural phenomena are really exciting to watch.
With every new episode I wonder what will happen to the girls this time. At the moment I cannot estimate at what pace the story will be told. In addition, the contrast between the child protagonists and the harsh world sometimes seems too stark.
But all in all, the series is a great anime that I can recommend with a clear conscience. The release on April 1st already shows that we can look forward to an extremely surreal adventure anime.
Where can I watch Train to the End of the World? The anime is currently available as a subscription on Crunchyroll. Unfortunately, it is not one of the series that you can watch without a premium subscription. You have to pay monthly (or yearly) to watch the anime. So far only the Japanese voice output with German subtitles is available.
