Polish man arrested – suspected of planned murder of Zelenskyi

A man suspected of helping Russian intelligence agencies plan to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been arrested in Poland. This was announced by Polish and Ukrainian prosecutors on Thursday.

“Ready to act”

The Polish citizen goes by the name Pawel K and is suspected of having provided information to the Russian military intelligence service. He is also said to have helped “Russian special forces” to plan the murder, writes AFP.

According to the Polish prosecutor, the man has been tasked with gathering information about the security at the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport – which would “help Russian special services plan a possible attack on the Ukrainian leader”.

The prosecutor’s office also claims that Paweł K “declared himself ready to act for Russia’s military intelligence service” and made contact with people who were “directly involved in the war in Ukraine”.

He now risks up to eight years in prison, writes Daily Mail.

Suspected spies arrested in Germany

The arrest took place on Wednesday and the investigation is still ongoing.

Earlier today, two men were arrested in Germany who are suspected of spying for Russia.

A number of assassination attempts on President Zelenskyi have been reported since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
