At the foot of the Pyrenees, extending to the Mediterranean, Catalonia begins its journey before crossing the Spanish border. A little piece of France in Catalan lands called Northern Catalonia. Between sea and mountain, Elne whose towers of its Sainte-Eulalie-et-Sainte-Julie Cathedral (11th and 12th centuries) dominate the Roussillon plain, is among the oldest cities in the region.
