Clashes continue on the 31st day of the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to appeal to world leaders and peoples to prevent Russia. Finally, Zelenskiy made striking statements, addressing politicians at the Doha Forum held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Zelenskiy drew attention to the upcoming Ramadan and the food crisis that may arise in the world.
Zelenskiy started his speech by greeting Qatar and said:
“I want to address you as you know it. Esselamu Alaikum. These words are the core values that mean peace, and they do not exist in Ukraine at the moment. Because Russia decided to invade Ukraine and take it under its own colony. They came and took what was not theirs, just like in the old empires. Russia is 28 times larger than Ukraine and is one of the largest countries in the world. But that’s not enough for them. The Russian administration wants to take our land and use our people as workers. But for 31 days, Ukraine has been resisting against a country that is 28 times bigger than itself.
Will Russia stop after taking Ukraine? Colonial demands are never-ending. Russia wants the return of times that were not lived in peace. You guys are doing your best to ensure that there is justice among your people, but we have been seeking justice for 31 days. I appreciate the United Nations’ help, but it does not do justice. Injustice is what Russia has done against Ukraine.
“TOO DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE!”
They intimidate and threaten with nuclear weapons. They threaten not only a nation but the whole world with nuclear weapons. Now, what can be done if nuclear or chemical weapons are used in the world, these issues are discussed. Ukraine gave its nuclear weapons, which was counted 3rd in the world in the 90s. In return, he received a written guarantee for the security of the country, including Russia, for other countries. These promises did not provide our guarantee. We had to fight against Russia, one of the countries that promised our security. This is a prime example of injustice. What will other countries do? Will they also want them to have nuclear weapons to protect themselves from a possible attack? This is very dangerous for everyone.”
“MOSQUES ARE TARGET”
Stating that mosques were also damaged by Russian bombs, Zelenskiy continued his speech as follows:
“Look at our cities, especially the devastated city of Mariupol, which is full of pain. Ukraine is a country that hosts different nationalities and religions. More than a million Muslims live in Ukraine, and Russian rockets threaten all these people. There were 4,000 Muslims in the city of Mariupol alone. In the mosques of Mariupol for 3 weeks there have been about 80 people, including children, women and the elderly. All roads are closed and the Russian army is preventing humanitarian aid from entering that area. There is nothing right now. They are bombing day and night and 90 percent of the city has been destroyed. Here, a thousand people lost their lives, but Russia received no punishment for it. He was also not punished for the occupation of Crimea, where Muslims live.
“THE REAL CRISIS IS AHEAD”
During this 31-day Russian occupation, 59 places of worship, including mosques and churches, 200 schools and dozens of hospitals were destroyed. Again, 10 million Ukrainians became refugees, and more than 3.5 million Ukrainians had to leave their country. Moreover, most of them are women and children. This is considered a refugee crisis. But this is nothing more. The real crisis lies ahead.”
“WE SHOULD PREVENT A GRAIN CRISIS IN THE WORLD”
Underlining that it would be painful for Ukraine to cultivate its lands, Zelenskiy added:
“Ukraine is one of the most important oil, wheat and corn exporters in the world. The world could not recover after the Kovid-19 outbreak and is at risk for food. To prevent grain cultivation, the Russians are mining Ukrainian soil, hitting agricultural machinery and fuel tanks. They invaded our ports. There is enough food in our country, but blocking exports will hit many countries. Islamic countries, Latin American countries and other countries will suffer. We must prevent a grain crisis in the world. All the sanctions imposed on Russia to force it to peace. It will take time to cancel the European purchase of Russian gas and oil.
“WE MUST ENSURE THE MONTH OF RAMADAN NOT TO BE IN THE SHADOW”
Qatar is a promising partner in terms of energy. The future of Europe depends on your sanctions. Increase the production of your energy resources. Russia should not use the energy issue as a weapon that will threaten the world. Ramadan starts a week later. We do not need to explain the importance and meaning of this month to anyone. The whole world knows and respects this. Ukrainian Muslims will have to protect their country and freedom with weapons in their hands during Ramadan. We must work together more and ensure that the month of Ramadan is not overshadowed by making Russia want peace. We must protect the international order not only for Ukraine but for everyone. We must work for peace in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Somalia. Long live Ukraine!” (UAV)
