JOURNALISTS WERE TARGETED
According to the information provided by AA from eye sources, the Israeli army targeted a group of journalists, including the TRT Arabic team, who were following the developments in the region, in the attack on Nusayrat Refugee Camp. Some journalists were injured in the attack using tank fire.
Health sources at the Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Belah also stated that cameraman Sami Shehade was injured in his foot and various parts of his body, and TRT Arabic correspondent Sami Berhum was slightly injured in the attack.
It was stated that journalist Muhammad es-Savalihi was also injured in his right hand.
“SURPRISE MILITARY OPERATION”
The Media Office of the government in Gaza announced that 140 journalists lost their lives in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army announced yesterday that it had launched a “surprise military operation” in the central part of the Gaza Strip. Many Palestinians were killed and injured in Israeli attacks targeting houses, mosques and roads.
REACTION FROM TRT GENERAL MANAGER SOBACI
TRT General Manager Zahid Sobacı reacted harshly to the attack and said:
“Killer Israel targeted the vehicle of our TRT Arabi team in Nuseyrat Camp. Unfortunately, our freelance cameraman Sami Shahada lost his foot and is currently in surgery. Thank God, our reporter Sami Berhum is in a good condition. I condemn Israeli brutality, which has no moral, legal or humanitarian limits.”
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik also condemned the attack and stated the following in his social media post:
“We once again condemn the Israeli army, which brutally massacred Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, targeting members of the press who brought the humanitarian situation in the region to the world’s agenda. We wish a speedy recovery to the TRT Arabi team, who was attacked by Israel while preparing for broadcast in the Nuseyrat camp in Gaza; the injured reporter Sami We wish Shahada a recovery.”
