In the incident that took place on the Thai island of Phuket last week, coast guard units intervened on a person who was walking alone in a 2.5-meter inflatable boat, about 80 kilometers off the coast in the Sea of Bengal.
According to the information obtained, the 37-year-old Vietnamese person named Ho Hoang Hung first came to Thailand by plane from Vietnam to reach his wife, who has been living in India due to the corona virus (Covid-19) restrictions and has not been able to see him for 2 years. Later, Hung, who went on a 2,000-kilometer sea voyage from the island of Phuket to the direction of India, was found by the Thai Coast Guard after the 18th day he spent in the water, and was brought ashore.
THERE WAS 10 PACKS OF Noodles and Drinking Water
A search of Hung’s plastic boat by the Coast Guard found only a small suitcase of personal items, 10 packs of noodles and some drinking water, but no GPS devices or maps were found. In his first statement, Hung stated that he applied to the Vietnamese and Indian consulates to reach his wife, who went to work but stayed in India due to restrictions, but to no avail.
