37-year-old Jerebko was kicked out of the national team when he signed for the Russian army-affiliated team CSKA Moscow in the middle of the war.
A month ago, Jerebko announced that he found a new club in Santeros de Aguada. Already in the second match, he suffered a hamstring injury and the club is now breaking the contract.
“After carrying out medical tests, a serious injury was confirmed which will keep him out of action indefinitely.” writes the club in a statement according to Expressen.
Only Swede to play in an NBA final
“Jerebko has been a gentleman and a fantastic professional. I am very sorry for his end. The time he was here he gave all his heart and effort to help the Santeros. For that we are very grateful. I wish him a speedy recovery,” says the club’s co-owner Joel López in a statement according to Aftonbladet.
Jerebko is Sweden’s most successful basketball player with, among other things, ten seasons in the NBA. He is the only Swede to play in an NBA final
