In Buckshot Roulette, an indie developer has the Russian Roulette has been reinvented and is currently convincing players on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Buckshot Roulette is an indie game from developer Mike Klubnika. In the game you sit in the back room of a nightclub and play a crazy version of Russian Roulette. Crazy here means that the developer has come up with some items and new mechanics to make the game less random.
In the 1vs. 1 title you have to decide every round whether to fire a shot at your opponent or at yourself. The shotgun contains live and non-live ammunition.
With items you can increase the damage that the next shot will do, see which cartridge is in the barrel or heal yourself again. The aim of the game is to kill the dealer as often as possible.
You can see the trailer of the game here.
The hype only comes on Steam
Why is the game so hyped now? Although Buckshot Roulette had already been available on Itch.io for a long time, it was only when it was released on Steam that the hype about the game arose. The game currently costs €2.69 on Steam and achieved 96% positive reviews with a total of over 7,000 ratings. When the offer ends, the game will cost 3 euros again.
The release on Steam brought the game many new features such as new items, rankings, more languages, controller support and an improved opponent.
The multiplayer mode, which players have been wanting for a long time, is currently in the works, as the developers revealed on Steam. However, exact details are not yet known.
What do players like about Buckshot Roulette? Players especially like the simplicity of the game. The game is easy to understand and the rounds don’t take long. Most people found a few hours of fun here for less than 3 euros. The atmosphere in the dark side room of a nightclub and the opportunity to go really far ensure that the players have a good time.
Layben describes the game perfectly in his Steam review: “The dealer just arrested me, drank all his beer, smoked all his cigarettes, then took a sawed-off shotgun and shot himself…”
The game reminds some players of Balatro, which doesn’t rely on great graphics or open world, but simply tries to be unique through interesting gameplay: The new indie hit is like poker, but much better – it only costs €14
