The White House has noted the negative response of terrorist-labeled Hamas to the proposal for a ceasefire that was put on the negotiating table in Cairo.
– We have seen the statements from Hamas which, so to speak, were not very encouraging, says US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
But, he stressed, no definitive answer has been given.
The plan presented by the United States and mediators Egypt and Qatar does not hold, said Hamas, which accuses Israel of not taking into account some of the movement’s demands.
“Nevertheless, the movement’s leadership is reviewing the submitted proposal,” a Hamas representative said in a statement Monday night.
