Retinol, the star of anti-aging products
For several years now, retinol has made a name for itself in the anti-aging cosmetics aisle. This vitamin A derivative visibly reduces the signs of skin aging while stimulating collagen production. Women with pigment spots are also attracted by its reducing effect on brown spots. Be careful, however, there are a few rules to know before applying a product containing retinol. Indeed, it can be irritating, especially for sensitive skin.
It is therefore advisable to apply a product that is not too concentrated in retinol to a small area, then, gradually, you can move on to a product more concentrated in active ingredients. Another point of vigilance, it must not be combined with a product containing vitamin C at the risk of stripping the epidermis. Finally, retinol is photosensitizing, meaning it increases skin sensitivity during exposure to UV radiation. It is therefore imperative to use this type of product in the evening before going to bed and to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen the next morning to protect your skin.
