At the national level, the elections can be considered a test of the popularity of the Polish government that started at the end of the year.
The conservative opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) seems to collect the largest vote pool in the local elections in Poland, says, among other things Polish Radio. According to the door-to-door poll, it would get just under 34 percent of the votes. According to the poll, the main party of the government, the pro-European Citizens’ Forum, is getting just under 32 percent of the vote.
In the elections, mayors and regional, city and municipal councilors are elected, among other things. There are nearly 200,000 people applying for various positions. The election campaign has mainly focused on local issues, such as transport and housing.

Prime minister Donald Hardly the government has tried to restore Poland’s shaky rule of law, but its popularity has begun to be left behind by the slowness of reforms.
At the regional level, the Citizens’ Forum or its government partners are expected to win at least in the majority of regions. Support for ruling parties is greatest in big cities, while Law and Justice is popular in rural areas and small towns, especially in the conservative eastern parts of Poland.
For example, the mayor representing the Warsaw Citizens’ Forum Rafal Trzaskowski was already reaching the postseason in the first round. A second round of the mayoral elections will be held in two weeks if none of the candidates gets more than half of the votes.
