The classic candy is gone from Coop

On February 1, several changes were implemented for Coop’s members. The points that members get when they shop at the food giant can, as you know, be redeemed in the form of discounts, something that is no longer as safe to get.

To get a reduced price as a member, you must shop for at least SEK 1,000 during a month. In addition, the points are reset to zero every month and the customer must start over with their points collection.

Previously, the customer did not have to reach a certain amount in order to redeem discounts.

There are more changes taking place in the popular food chain. Like previous changes, Coop has not been particularly keen to notify its customers of what is happening.

As the observant licorice lover may have noticed, the licorice candy Djungelvrål is no longer available at Coop.

Djungelvrål is a type of salt licorice that has existed in Sweden since 1982. The food giant Coop has chosen not to continue selling the candy due to a conflict with Malaco, which publishes the candy.

Coop’s press secretary Magnus Björling write to News24 that Malaco raised its prices.

“It is true that we currently do not have Malaco Jungle Roar in our range after the supplier raised their prices to a level that we feel is unreasonable for our members and customers.”

Instead, Björling refers to the fact that Coop certainly has other types of candy, and a wide range.

“Coop continues to have a wide range of small bags of candy in store and online.”
