“Everything by the book” is a sentence that Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) rarely puts it in his mouth – or takes it to heart. He has his own way of driving forward investigations and doesn’t necessarily always think in terms of the orderly lines of bureaucracy and hierarchy. Much to the chagrin of his superiors, when an attempted arrest once again backfires.
