The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made strong statements about Sweden in recent days.
Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Alexander Grushko, criticizes, among other things, Sweden’s rearmament of the defense.
– It only serves American interests, says Grushko to the Kremlin-loyal channel RT.
In connection with Sweden’s accession to NATO, Russia came out and threatened Sweden.
“Russia will take countermeasures of a political and military-technical nature in order to minimize threats to its national security,” the Russian embassy wrote in a press release.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also came out and commented on Sweden’s entry, which was believed to have been encouraged from abroad.
– Sweden’s accession to NATO is followed by an escalation of anti-Russian hysteria in the country. It is encouraged by the Swedish political and military leadership, but its main source is abroad, said the ministry’s spokesperson, Maria Zacharova.
Speaks in Kremlin-loyal channel
More condescending statements against Sweden are now coming from Russia. This time too, Sweden is accused of acting in the interests of other countries. – Both Finland and Sweden have rapidly increased their military spending and bought American weapons. It is not in line with peace and security in Europe but follows American interests, Grushko said, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
He also claims that a confrontation with Russia would be “political suicide” and that the threat from Russia only exists in the minds of Western Europe and the United States.
Warns those who want to take up arms against Russia
The build-up of the Swedish defense is not the only thing that the Russian Foreign Ministry is trying to question. The ministry’s spokesperson, Maria Zacharova, also criticizes the Swedish Foreign Ministry, which she believes encourages Swedes to travel and fight for Ukraine.
– The Foreign Ministry’s clumsy attempt to legitimize these fortune-seeking soldiers encourages Swedes to travel to combat zones, says Zacharova.
In the statement from Zacharova, she also says that several Swedes died in battles against Russia.
– We urge not only Swedes, but everyone who plans to take up arms against Russian forces to think about this.
