Still Wakes the Deep First Look

In the horror game Still Wakes The Deep, developed by The Chinese Room, we will face a supernatural horror in Scotland in the 1980s.

Developed by indie game developer The Chinese Room and design-led by Rob McLachlan Still Wakes the Deep, draws players into the dark and mysterious world of the Beira D oil rig, stranded in the middle of the sea in the north of Scotland in the 1980s. In this narrative-driven horror adventure, your goal is to solve a series of mysterious events as communication lines are cut and you desperately try to survive. The game forces you to seek salvation in an environment full of deadly dangers, while being hunted by an unknown force that constantly unsettles you.

Still Wakes the Deep: A Fight for Survival in the Dark Waters of the North Sea

In the game, you play as an offshore platform worker trying to save his life in the dark and freezing waters of the North Sea, in dangerous surroundings and in the middle of a violent storm. Communication lines have been cut, escape routes have vanished, and all that remains is to confront the incomprehensible fear that has infiltrated the ship. You have to find your teammates and try to keep them alive if possible. You’ll run through flooded corridors, climb and swim across storm-battered exterior decks. You will face a relentless, terrifying enemy and pray in hope that maybe one day you will see your family again.

The production offers a tense atmosphere in which they must face an unknown threat, unarmed and defenseless. While trying to understand what happened by putting the pieces together after the accident, it is adorned with stories of people who were horrifically murdered on the platform. The game’s setting is inspired by iconic horror movies of the 70s and 80s, which adds deep tension and mystery to its atmosphere.

Still Wakes the Deep - 2

In the game, which combines modern game mechanics with a story that reflects the spooky aesthetics of classic horror movies, we will try to survive and progress by using their intelligence and environment, without using any weapons, armor or special powers.

The narrative-driven first-person horror game carries on the legacy of the developer’s previous successful projects, such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and Dear Esther. We also know the company with the adventure game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
