Floods that occur as a result of melting snow and heavy rains as the weather warms up in the western, northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan continue to affect. Evacuation efforts continue in areas affected by the flood. In the statement made by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, it was stated that there was a slight decrease in the water level in the western parts of the country, and an intense increase in the water level of the river was observed in the central, northern and eastern parts. In the statement, it was stated that the effect of the flood continued in 5 regions and an emergency was declared in 20 regions.
16 THOUSAND PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED
In the statement made by the Ministry, “Bad conditions continue in Aktobe, Western Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions. Search and rescue efforts continue in the regions. “During the flood process, nearly 16 thousand people were evacuated, 6 thousand of them children.” In the statement, it was noted that volunteers in emergency areas continue to provide the necessary support to the public and monitor the water level in dams and rivers.
In the images shared by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, it was seen that helicopters were used in evacuation efforts, and stranded pets as well as people were rescued.
