Sven-Erik Sjögren, 72, is one of the participants who created the most headlines during his participation in SVT’s Hotell romantik. Right from the start of the program, he made the participants raise their eyebrows when he both brought sex pills, and showed off his body in a mankini at the first party.
In Sunday’s episode, Sven-Erik had to leave, and there are many who wonder – why can’t Sven-Erik stay until the end of Hotel Romantik?
“Can be a bit cheeky”
During Sunday’s episode, it was clear that Sven-Erik would leave the recording. The night before there was a beach rave with a burning man theme, and the participants danced wildly in ekivoka outfits. Sven-Erik was there just like everyone else, but the following morning he was suddenly going home.
News24 have therefore asked Sven-Erik what was behind the hasty journey home:
– There wasn’t anyone handsome, says Sven-Erik and continues:
– It was only beautiful Marie Louise that I liked. I approached her in a slightly cheeky way. Not that I was rude, but I can be a bit cheeky and nonchalant as a man can be.
Sven-Erik tells us that he didn’t really fit into the group, and therefore chose to cancel before the recording was finished. He believes that many were disturbed by his audacity.
– There is an expression that says “you can’t behave in a way that suits everyone”. There is always someone who dislikes what you do. Then I can be significantly larger in the jaw as a man, compared to a woman. It doesn’t go well with everyone.

Even though he didn’t click with everyone at the hotel, Sven-Erik says he is satisfied with his contribution to Hotel Romantik. He is himself and has never felt the need to compromise in order to fit into different contexts.
– Take it or leave it, says Sven-Erik to Nyheter24 and laughs.
The last thing Sven-Erik wants to be is boring, and he is pleased that he didn’t come across as a “lukewarm movie milk”, but instead as a cheeky man with a sense of humor in Hotel Romance.
– Either you try to get along with everyone and then you become damn boring, like lukewarm cream milk. Or you go your own way, and then you get a few thorns in your life, says Sven-Erik and continues:
– I expect that, I am a slightly provocative person. A lot of people get mad at me, but some get mad at me because they want to be like that themselves. But they don’t have the energy to be like me.
Do you have any regrets today when you look back on the shoot?
– The only thing I regret is that I wore jeans when I was dressed as a chef in the program. I would have gone under the apron instead. Then I was far too cowardly, far too kind. When the camera panned around, the viewers had seen my sexy ass instead. It would have been much more fun.
