Russia demands that Ukraine extradite several people allegedly linked to terrorist attacks against Russia, including the head of Ukraine’s security service Vasyl Maljuk.
The Ukrainian security service has responded that the accusations are “useless and cynical”. That is written by Reuters.
In a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry on Sunday, it is demanding that Ukraine arrest and extradite “a number of people”, including the head of the country’s security service, Vasyl Malyuk.
Maljuk is accused of being involved in a series of alleged terrorist attacks, including the attack on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022.
Ukraine’s security services have responded by calling Russia’s demands “useless” and “cynical”.
Singled out for Moscow actions
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlights several attacks in which Ukrainians are allegedly involved. Among other things, the claim is repeated that the attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow, where over 140 people were killed, has links to Ukraine. However, no evidence is presented.
The statement comes despite the fact that the Islamic State in Khorasan IS-K claimed responsibility for the crime and that Ukraine firmly asserted its innocence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that the attack on the concert hall in Moscow at the end of March was committed by radical Islamists, but that they are “interested in who ordered it”. He has on several occasions pointed towards Ukraine.
– They tried to hide and fled in the direction of Ukraine. According to our preliminary information, there was a prepared transition on the Ukrainian side so that they could cross the border, Putin said in his first statement after the attack.
