The US and Israel are to discuss the Biden administration’s alternative to the Israeli army’s planned invasion of Rafah, US and Israeli sources tell Axios.

The data claim that White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan will be the top official on the American side of the meeting, which will be held digitally on Monday. The sources also state that the discussions will be followed up with a physical meeting later this week.

The US has previously announced that it opposes the planned Rafah invasion. From the Israeli side, however, they say they are sticking to their plan.

The UN Security Council last week approved a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The fact that the US, which has the ability to veto, did not do so has contributed to a frostier relationship with Israel.
