We all know that speeding can be dangerous. The risk of accidents increases, and you can also receive a fine or have your driver’s license revoked.
Driving too slowly, on the other hand, is also not good, and driving significantly slower than is appropriate on a particular stretch of road is punishable by a fine.

Disturbing 8 out of 10 motorists
A new study carried out by Demoskop for Gjensidige shows that 81 percent of Swedish motorists are annoyed by people who drive too slowly, while only 18 percent state that they are not annoyed by slow fellow road users.
– Irritation in traffic is dangerous because road rage can lead to a loss of concentration which in the worst case can lead to accidents, says Gjensidige’s claims manager Markus Ljungblad.

Calling for calm
Markus Ljungblad emphasizes, however, that one should be careful not to get excited, as the person who drives slowly can do this for a completely legitimate reason that the person behind is not aware of.
However, it is not good if a long queue builds up behind a slow vehicle, after this can lead to someone in the queue reaching their boiling point and taking high risks to get past.
– It is always the overtaking driver’s responsibility to ensure that the overtaking can take place in a safe manner, at the same time it is the responsibility of all road users to do their utmost to avoid contributing to risky situations, says Markus Ljungblad.

Keep an eye on the rearview mirror
That risky situations arise because someone drives too slowly is relatively common, according to the study. 7 out of 10 respondents state that only in the last year have they seen a situation that they felt was dangerous due to someone driving too slowly.
– You who drive slowly also have a responsibility. Always keep an eye on the rearview mirror. If you have many cars behind you and no one in front, it may be a sign that you should let your fellow road users pass.
According to Markus Ljungblad, it is also important to be observant about whether the vehicle behind wants to overtake you.
– If you notice that the car behind you seems to want to overtake, wait until you reach a suitable distance, let off the gas and hold out towards the edge. Then the other car can overtake safely and then both can continue their car journey in a safe and calm manner, says Markus Ljungblad.
