What actually happened?
Best friends Sebastian Larsson and Joel Lundqvist against each other in a night duel.

Ever since it was clear that Sebastian Larsson and Joel Lundqvist agreed to this year’s season of “Master of Champions”, the mouths of the SVT people have been watering. Two of Swedish sports’ biggest winners in recent years and from the two biggest sports in our country – football and hockey – against each other in 10 episodes.
Sebastian & Joel
The duo set the tone for the new season as the toughest in the acclaimed television show’s 16-year existence. It got even better, of course, when the TV filming started and both of them found each other immediately.
They immediately became best friends, moved in together and since then we have been able to follow the most beautiful “bromance” developing between Sebastian and Joel. But all good things come to an end and this was a brutal breakup.
Ultimate betrayal
Joel Lundqvist was already ready for the night duel and from the first floor he will see his “roomie” Sebastian Larsson lose Sunday’s qualifier. The shock is total. What we get to follow next is pure television history and one of the program’s strongest moments ever.

The whole build up to the night duel is such an incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere as the friends are forced into the ultimate betrayal of each other.
– My roommate and demon. But if there’s anyone I’m going to go against, it’s my roomie. We know that people have to leave, that’s just it, says a noticeably taken Sebastian in tonight’s episode.
– Roomie in the night duel. After all, we had built up that we would be there at the end, together. That was the idea. It will be tough against “Sebbe”, it will be very special, says Joel and still seems calmer.
Moral finale
Dusk is falling, the presenter Mike Leijnegard light their wands of fate, grandiose war music frames everything in the best way and the two combatants step out for the most emotional night duel in television history. The best friends, the roommates, turn into each other’s executioners in the moral finale of the Master of Masters.

It’s hardly the case that you dare to look… Then it’s over in just a minute or so and Leijnegard sums it all up with a single word: “Ouch”.
Larsson’s anger
Sebastian Larsson is more angry than happy and instead of choosing happiness to win, he scolds Joel Lundqvist. It really says it all about the ex-footballer’s character and personality.
– You had it, damn it! You gave it to me, says Sebbe.
– Good job, congratulations! Now you take this home, you do, says Joel, who hardly seems to have realized what just happened.

They join in a warm hug before parting ways – for once – because we all know this is just the beginning of a lifelong friendship.
– Now it just feels really sad that it was against Joel, to be honest, Sebastian admits and says goodbye to his roomie with the following words:
– It has been a terrible few weeks, we see each other and hear from each other.
