Three Kings takes place shortly after the end of the Second Gulf War. Together with Sergeant Barlow (Mark Wahlberg) and Sergeant Elgin (Ice Cube) he goes on a search slides straight into a murderous conflict.

Even though the result was celebrated by many critics (via Metacritic ), Three Kings was torture for Clooney. As Far Out Magazine quotes from Vanity Fair and Entertainment Weekly articles, he and Russell couldn’t stand each other. In one scene Apparently there were even fights between the two because the director attacked an extra. The star later described the experience as “the worst experience of my life“.
Russell’s behavior towards the cast and crew has since attracted negative attention on other film sets, as a New York Times article shows. “Would I ever work with David again? No never“, Clooney stated. “But do I think he’s incredibly talented and think he should be nominated for Oscars? Absolutely.” The nominations have remained the same so far. Some stars won’t mind.
