of Edmonton Zach Hyman has made headlines in recent weeks. The 31-year-old Canadian winger has done Connor McDavid’s alongside already 51 goals. The number is sensational for a player who was only booked in the NHL in the fifth round.
In the 21st century only Pavel Bure (6th round) has become a 50-goal man as a reservation for the last round. If the pace can be maintained, Hyman may reach the 60-goal mark.
Such readings are unimaginably, even historically hard for the Danube pier.
The latest uproar around the player was seen this past week, when a Canadian hockey reporter Andrew Berkshire brought up the player’s family background.
According to the Canadian journalist, Hyman has been in a privileged position because of his wealthy parents. The line-up caused quite a stir in the home country of the sport. Sportsmen rushed in large numbers to Hyman’s support.
– He has an interesting story, where the father’s wallet was in good condition and the son had a strong passion to become a player. However, at the NHL level, father’s money has nothing to do with anything anymore, ‘s NHL expert Ismo Lehkonen line.
– It’s pointless for me to get upset that anyone scores 50 goals next to McDavid. It doesn’t and it’s already been seen many times. Hyman has done a huge amount of work and has constantly been able to develop even small details in his game, Lehkonen praises.
Hyman already profiled himself as a hard-working glue player in Toronto, whose then head coach of the Leafs Mike Babcock could put almost anywhere in the assembly. Nowadays, Hyman is known as one of the best goal-scoring players in the league.
– He has a clear understanding of which scoring actions help him score goals from close range.
According to Lehkonen, Hyman is a player who can handle the entire 82-match long regular season to hit everything in the game in every single change.
– Hyman is a great example for many that you are not satisfied with just an NHL place, but that even at an older age you can constantly improve and develop.
Who surprised?
Had it finally been found in Carolina To Sebastian Aho top class winger? So it seems.
Acquired from Pittsburgh Jake Guentzel seems to have quickly found excellent chemistry with Aho. The Yankee winger, who won the Stanley Cup in Pittsburgh as the decisive player, has made Aho and by Seth Jarvis when playing with a great effect right from the start.
The trio has controlled more than 66% of the expected goals and won their games with goals of 7–0.
– That chain is one of the best in the NHL, if not the best right now. It’s a kind of European give-and-go ice hockey. There is no other chain like it. It looks really fun and has all the elements of hockey at its best. Limpu changes owners all the time and everyone in the chain is really fast, praises Lehkonen.
Guentzel’s arrival in the team seems to have clearly given Carolina new joy and energy. Most importantly, now it would seem that we finally have a decent batting weapon for the spring playoffs.
– I bet the guys are pretty excited about that chain. Guentzel is used to playing that style of game Sidney Crosby with and now he realizes that this Ahohan is a younger edition of Crosby.
Who cheated?
The Toronto Pilot Sheldon Keefen nerves failed – should I say it again.
After the New Jersey loss, the Leafs pilot barked at almost literally everyone. The captain was the first to fall under the roller John Tavaresthen the goalkeeper Joseph Woll and so on.
After about three minutes, Toronto’s PR staff interrupted the press conference.
– In the media world of Toronto, that’s pretty rude. It sounds like he had a plan for it, but if that’s where the feeling started, then Toronto is on the hook. In that case, everyone from the assistant coaches can be really surprised.
It’s clear that the pressure in Toronto is always stronger than anywhere else, and Keefe is certainly aware of his own position after several consecutive failures. If the spring turns into limbo, the position of the head coach will certainly be discussed.
– You always have to have a game plan with the media, and that’s why I can’t believe that he didn’t think about that systematically.
– Such exits must be planned so that they have been discussed openly with the club management as well. The upper floor must know and everyone must commit to it. I believe that now they wanted to get the guys on their toes well in advance of the playoffs, Lehkonen reflects.
It remains to be seen if Keefe’s tactics will work. After Thursday morning’s win over Boston, Tampa Bay is just two points behind Toronto for the last outright playoff spot.
Goal of the week
We raise Arizona as the goal of the week By Josh Doan first NHL hit. 22-year-old Doan immediately hit in his first NHL game on his home ice against Columbus. An Arizona legend celebrated the hit in the stands by Shane Doan led by the whole family. The goal was one of the absolute feel-good moments of the week.
– There has been a pretty good coach and instructor at home. There has been healthy upbringing in terms of how to practice and how to talk about the game, Lehkonen refers to Shane’s father, who is known as a hard team player.
What next?
Rarely has there been such a fierce battle for the win in the NHL regular season as it is right now. The New York Rangers lead the league with 100 points, but seventh-place Carolina is just three points behind. Dallas, Boston, Vancouver, Florida and Colorado can also fit in between.
– Everyone wants that home advantage as far as possible. On the other hand, it seems that if you win your own conference in the West, you get a prize in the first round against the reigning champion, Las Vegas, Lehkonen laughs.
– Well, what could be better than that. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.
Traditionally, winning the regular season in the NHL has correlated poorly with winning the championship. In the 2000s, only Chicago (2013), Detroit (2008, 2002) and Colorado (2001) have won both the regular season and the championship.
– I would say that in the east, Boston is a strong candidate. In the West, I think Vancouver collects points at a nice pace, or Dallas, Lehkonen throws his candidates as regular season winners.
