“It was a difficult decision”

Edvin Anger has a very good season behind him.
But now it will be different for the next ski season.
The 21-year-old reveals the tough love decision that leads to big change.

Ever since the Olympic gold for youth in the sprint in 2020, expectations have been high Edwin Anger. The great talent from Hedemora has long predicted a brilliant future and has also won three JSM golds and six SM golds for seniors.

Nice winter in Angers

In 2022 he also made his World Cup debut and the first real season as a senior rider ended with a series of fourth places. This season, Anger has finally been able to celebrate and can look back on a really nice winter on the ski slopes.

January 3, 2024, the 21-year-old struck with the very first individual podium of his career at the World Cup with a second place in the sprint in Davos. Anger then followed that up with a third place finish in the sprint in Canmore as well and there have also been two relay podiums from last season.

Tough love decision

But for the next ski season, there will be a big change for Edvin Anger. The sprint specialist has made a decisive decision together with the Norwegian girlfriend Emma Axelsson.

Hedemorasonen chooses to leave his hometown for a move to Östersund.
– It was a difficult decision. But I guess I’ll have to move back home and build a house. And driving a tractor, admits Anger for Expressen and gives answers about the move caused reactions.
– It has been quite calm anyway. I thought it might end with beheading or something, he says with a laugh.

During the spring, the national team skier will pack up his life in Hedemora and start a new chapter together with his girlfriend, in a completely new city.
– I have thought about making a change. And there is a lot you can use from a training point of view in Östersund, says Edvin to the evening newspaper and reveals yet another reason for the move.
– It’s a good fit because Emma will be studying in Östersund now too.
