Pro-Palestine demonstration at the anniversary of Utrecht University

The demonstrators call on the UU to sever ties with Israeli universities and not to adopt a neutral position in the war between Israel and Hamas. These are wishes that are known to the university, a spokesperson said. The UU maintains their previous position: “We understand the call to take a stand. Yet that is not our role as UU. We are a university, not a political institute.”
