Which Pokémon is it about? In Pokémon GO you can always meet the villains of Team GO Rocket, which consist of bullies, the three bosses Arlo, Sierra and Cliff and their leader Giovanni. As part of the World of Wonders: Takeover event, they change their teams and compete against you with new monsters.
From March 27, 2024 you can meet Crypto-Groudon for the first time, which Giovanni will use in his team. We have summarized below what you need to know about Crypto-Groudon and how you can find it.
Crypto-Groudon – Appearance, Strength and Shiny
What kind of Pokémon is Groudon? Groudon is a legendary ground-type Pokémon from the 3rd generation of games. It has no advanced or advanced developments, but can temporarily change its normal form into a proto form. You can recognize the monster by its large, red, armor-like body as well as its pointed, white horns and claws.
How strong is Crypto-Groudon: The legendary ground-based Pokémon not only has high attack, stamina and defense values, but also powerful attacks that will benefit you in battle. With a combination of Clay Shot and Abyssal Blade, it is one of the best attackers of its type. But it can also score well in the GO Battle League with a moveset consisting of Clay Shot, Abyssal Blade and Fire Blast, which is why it shouldn’t be missing from your team.
As a Crypto-Pokémon, its attack value is also increased again, which can give you an advantage, especially in raids, as it causes more damage to the opponent. At the same time, its defense becomes weaker, which is why it doesn’t last as long in battle. However, it remains an optimal choice for raids. In the master league, however, the normal form is a little better.
Since Crypto-Pokémon initially receive the charging attack Frustration, you should unlearn it and use a better attack.
Does Shiny Groudon exist? Groudon already exists in its dazzling form in the game, but this will not yet be active in the crypto version. So in the fight against Giovanni you can only secure the normal Crypto form of Groudon for now. It is currently unclear when Crypto-Groudon will also be available as a shiny.

How to catch Crypto-Groudon? In order to secure a copy of the legendary Crypto Pokémon, you first have to find the Rocket Boss Giovanni. To do this, you need a corresponding Super Rocket Radar, which you get from the special research for the Rocket takeover. Experience has shown that you have to compete against other members of Team GO Rocket.
Once you have received the Super Rocket Radar, you can track down Giovanni once and challenge him to battle. If you defeat him, you will have the opportunity to catch his legendary Crypto-Groudon. Just remember that your balls are limited, so there is no guaranteed catch.

How long do you have to catch? Crypto-Groudon will be part of Giovanni’s team from March 27th and will, as experience shows, stay there until the next Rocket takeover. It is not yet known when this will happen. However, since the special research for the Rocket Takeover can be activated in the game until June 1st, 2024 at 9:59 a.m., it can be assumed that there will be no other legendary monster on his team by then.
