It has been decided to deport the founder of the WikiLeaks disclosure website to the United States, but the legal battle continues.
A Londoner the court has decidedthat the founder of the WikiLeaks disclosure website Julian Assange the legal proceedings have not yet been decided.
It had already been decided to deport Assange to the United States in 2022, but he has appealed against the decision.
According to the new decision, the United States will be asked for more information on the matter. The British court wants to know how to protect Assange’s freedom of speech, which also plays an important role in the US constitution. In addition, the United States must assure that Assange cannot be sentenced to death.
If the United States does not provide these assurances, Assange can appeal his deportation decision on the same grounds.
Since 2019, Assange has been fighting to prevent deportation to the United States, where he faces up to 175 years in prison.
If the judges had not accepted Assange’s arguments, he would have been deported to the United States within a few days, says The Guardian magazine.
According to Assange’s defense, the charges are political and the deportation demand illegal.
In the United States, Assange is accused of espionage. In 2010 and 2011, hundreds of thousands of secret documents about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were published on the Wikileaks website. In addition, diplomatic correspondence marked secret ended up on Wikileaks.
