Pelicans pushed HIFK to the brink of the abyss – Peltonen in awe: “A solution wrapped in gift paper and a fine bow” | Sport

Pelicans pushed HIFK to the brink of the abyss

Lars Bryggman ended HIFK’s efforts with a 3–2 overtime goal in 66.40. The Pelicans lead the series almost sensationally with a 3–0 win.

HIFK defender Kasper Kotkansalo fell into a mistake, which the Pelicans’ Swedish forward did not miss.

– With an erotic goal, the puck goes to the top shelf, an amazing solution, even though the situation was preceded by the wonderful sparkle of HIFK’s Kotkansalo, stated the expert of the hockey circuit Top Nättinen.

HIFK coach Ville Peltonen was on the same lines. Personal mistakes have become a big playoff story in HIFK – in a negative sense. IFK goalkeeper in the previous series match Roope Tapose went badly, the Pelicans also took advantage of that mistake.

– The top one is the solution wrapped in gift paper and a fine bow in the sequel. Pelicans had a better start and maybe a touch more wisdom, commented Peltonen.

The responsible pilot of the Pelicans Tommi Niemelä was understandably the happier of the two in the media exam.

– The most open game in this series. You have to admire the patience of the players, grind and grind. Even though we didn’t get a goal due to superior forces, the job was done on a level playing field, Niemelä mused.

Good entry from the Pelicans

HIFK was in a good position at the beginning of the match, though Eetu Koivistoinen got through, where the Pelicans keeper, who brilliantly blocked the whole match Niklas Kokko impressively knocked the puck into his glove.

The Pelicans Patrick Karlsson shot a 1–0 lead from the arc of the starting point Ryan Laschin excellent preliminary work in 8.41. He scored an important equalizer for HIFK just under four minutes laterJulius Nättinenwas in charge of serving Jori Lehterä.

Nathan Schnarr transferred Niko Hovinen saved from the return puck to give Pelicans the lead for the second time at the end of the second period, in 38:47. The hit was accepted only after a video review, HIFK’s challenge in the situation failed.

– The Pelicans Aleks Haatanen the stick went between HIFK keeper Hovisen’s legs before the goal, but the situation continued after that, and there was no immediate protest from anyone. It would have been a hard rejection, even if there was a chance, expert Top Nättinen inch in a hockey round.

HIFK got to play as much as six minutes straight with superiority in the third period, when Kasper Puutio first left the pitch to second and right after the goal scorer Schnarr’s bat went up Eetu Koivistonen to the corner of the eye, for 2+2 minutes.

Ville Peltonen the guards did not leave the place unused. Juha Jääskä broke Niklas Koko’s save in front of the goal for HIFK to equalize 2–2 in 49:25, when there was only one second left of superiority.

The season of HIFK, which finished sixth in the regular season, will be interrupted on Tuesday in Helsinki. Only once in the history of the SM league has it gone from 0-3 to the next round. The statistics are not on the side of the people of Helsinki.

Koivunen and Turunen too much for the Jukurs

Raksila’s sold-out, 6050 pairs of spectators were able to marvel when the efficient Kärpät took his third tie in the quarterfinals against Jukurei in a show-stopping fashion. Ville Koivunen (3+1) and Teemu Turunen (1+3) swept Kärpä to a 5–2 victory.

Jukurit practically collapsed in the last four minutes of the first period, when Ville Koivunen Kärpät took a 2–0 lead in the opening set with two goals. Kärpät scored from his own special situation, Jukurit didn’t.

Koivunen hit for the second time in the set, when Teemu Turunen snatched the puck from Jukurien Pak and offered a powerful position to the chain friend. Big personal foul from the away team, totally a free goal!

– Game-wise, Jukurei had no problem in the even first set. Kemppainen’s fine mask in the 1–0 goal was key. Oliver Larsen messed up really well in the 0–2 goal, Turunen smelled an opportunity, ‘s hockey expert Top Nättinen take note.

As a last resort, a coach Olli Jokinen changed the goalkeeper when three goals down to wake up his team. Rasmus Korhonen your ear Markus Ruusun between the posts. That didn’t help either.

Jukurit wasn’t that bad in terms of play, as the final numbers show. Taking into account all the quarter-finals of the evening, Jukurei even had the biggest goal expectation based on the statistics for two sets, yet it was at a loss 1–4. Tomi Karhunen made many important saves for Kärpi during the evening.

Jukurie’s season, which finished fifth in the regular season, will be interrupted on Tuesday in Mikkeli.

TPS already lost to Tappara in the opening set

In the quarter-finals of the Ice Hockey Championship League, Tappara really stepped on the gas for the first time, roaring to a 3–0 lead in the opening set and finally a convincing 4–0 victory against TPS. Tappara leads the series with a 2–1 win.

Nick Halloran, Otto Rauhala and Carter Camper were responsible for Tampere’s goals in the first period, Tappara captain Rauhala hit another goal at the end – empty.

– We came into the game badly, there’s no escaping that. Six games have been played in nine days now, the load has of course been heavy. It was still more about how we manage to recharge mentally. This is where we failed today, said the Palloseura coach Tommi Miettinen.

In Tampere, there were no complete hits in the second period. At that point Tappara’s Home Audience shouted rhythmically the goalkeeper Christian Heljangon a name that kept Tapparaa afloat in the second round, when TPS dominated and frantically sought a reduction. Shots in the set for the visitors 21–7.

Heljanko stopped a total of 33 shots in his clean sheet, the official brother of the opposite side Philip Lindbergh 20.

At the end of the match, Tommi Miettinen’s subordinates started to provoke the home team in a losing position. Brother Matti Vittasmäki answered TPS Markus Nurmen to a shout, followed by Tapparan as well Petri Kontiola39, and TPS Leevi Teissala23, and Tapparan Anton Levtchi and TPS Lukas Wernblom took the little boys’ wrestling.

Head coach of the Tampere team Rikard Grönborg stressed that the team was talked to a lot before the game about duels and how to win them.

– We succeeded in physical twists in important areas and I am especially happy with how we started the match. The second set was weaker than us, in which the opponent threw all the chips into the pot. In the third set, the lead to play was found, the Swedish pilot saw.

Oliver Kapanen is KalPa’s decision-maker

For a long time, KalPa has a dangerous and solution-seeking first court, which puts the focus of most of the game dangerously on the opponent’s end.

Matyas Kantner, Oliver Kapanen and Juuso Mäenpää was strongly featured when KalPa, who finished 7th in the regular season, defeated Ilves, the second in the series, 1–0 in the overtime and unexpectedly took the lead in the series with a 2–0 win.

KalPa and Ilves had to go into overtime due to a goalless situation, even though both teams had superior forces to score a goal.

Oliver Kapanen used the puck in Mäenpää and was able to score a 1–0 goal in overtime in 69.58. The winning goal was Kapanen’s third in four playoff games!

KalPa’s head coach Petri Karjalainen praised the American guard Stefanos From Lekkawho needed 22 saves for his clean sheet.

– The end of the third set was difficult for us, but we were persistent and luck was on the way. Bad moments have to be endured, that’s how it goes in the playoffs. Both had their places, but both goalkeepers were amazing. An even game where the bounces were in our favor, even though we took a lot of fighting victories, Karjalainen summed up the winning game.

Ilves pilot Antti Pennanen was calm at the media conference. Keeper Jakub To Malek at least Ilves didn’t fall.

– The level of the game rose from the first, the pace of the game was fast. At the end of the third set, we were excellent, and at the beginning of the extra set, until that freeze. Our 50 shots shows that we had a chance today. You have to be able to make a result, said Pennanen.
