In football, a historically fast national team goal was scored on Saturday in Bratislava.

On Saturday, the striker of the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig scored the fastest goal scored at national football team level. It was the eleventh hit of his National Team career.
– We have tried this variation before, where we sprint at full speed with the ball towards the opponent’s goal. Now, somehow, the steps fell into place and I was able to proceed directly to scoring, Baumgartner mused to the news agency Reuters after the historic trick.
The previous record fastest national team goal was by Germany Lukas Podolski in the name when he scored in seven seconds against Ecuador in 2013.
Substitute player Andreas Weimann sealed a two-goal away win for Austria eight minutes before full time.
